forest ( first called SiRim, but later called GyeRim ) was
named after the legend of Kim Alji, born here during the resign
of King TalHae. |

Kim Alji
is the founder of the Kim Clan. According to legend, Kim Alji
was found in a golden chest (hence the surname "Kim'
which means 'gold' in Corean) that was lodged in a tree, beneath
which a white cock crowed. When the king heard of this, he
went and opened up the chest and found the boy inside. His
mystical discovery was reminiscent of Park HyeoGeoSe, so the
king declared him crown prince. |
